days in advance about a move, so start preparing then.Here’s a helpful countdown on what to do and when to do it.
30 DAYS:

Get
boxes and other packing and moving supplies. You can get boxes for free from
any retails stores – simply go in and ask for them. If you start now, you will
have plenty of boxes to use by moving day.

Reserve
your moving truck. Don’t think you can call up the trucking company a few days
before you move because they probably won’t be able to help you. They could be
all out and then what? So call and reserve your truck ASAP.

Hiring
a moving company? Start getting free consultations right now so you can choose
the company you will hire by next week. Then, you can get scheduled to make
sure they are available on your moving day.
15 DAYS:
·
Start
recruiting friends and family to help you move on moving day. You can even ask
some people to help you start packing. There is a difference. Some people may
not be capable of helping you move, but wouldn’t mind helping you pack.
·
Arrange
for your utilities to be turned on at your new home. This includes phone,
cable, Internet, electricity, gas, etc. Also arrange for these items to be
turned off at your old home.
24 HOURS:
·
Finish
packing up anything that you haven’t packed so far.
·
Fuel
up the car and moving truck (if applicable);
·
Hiring
a moving service? Call & confirm with them.
·
Gather
tickets & credit cards if flying.
·
Get
cash on hand for unanticipated expenses that could occur during the move.
